director.nbsslup@icar.gov.inBrief Profile: Conducted about 30 years pioneering research in the field of land resource inventorying, and land use planning. The first 19 years including three years for Ph.D programme from RAU Bikaner was spent in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Other fields of specialization are global soil organic carbon mapping, efficient crop zoning, agro-ecological region and sub-region, zones and sub-zone mapping, soil information system; bhoomi Geo-portal and customized digital assistants. In the first few years the service, developed soil resource database of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Goa and studied extensively the variability and management issues in black soils of Rajasthan and latter devoted the services for desertification mappig, drought monitoring and nutrient mapping in arid region of India; providing leadership to ICAR-NBSS&LUP Nagpur since last ten years and the author of Vision 2050 document; architect of input based land use planning in West Bengal, Assam and Jharkhand; developing professional land use plan of aspirational districts of India as nodal officer of ICAR ; introducing application of soil resource data in the industry for various other uses and organized six national and two international conferences; represented ICAR in FAO for global organic carbon mapping; generated revenue of Rs. 61 crores in the system;actedas member for the faculty, academic council, executive council and board of management in many universities and took proactive role in introducing natural resource management as one of the course in Agricultural Sciences. Published 200 research papers in high impacted journals, five books (three pubished and two under publications), nine copy rights, many atlases, bulletins and monograph. Presently leading and guiding a team working on the congervence Agro-technologies across the disciplines for successful execution of watershed management, integrated agriculture, precision farming, and professional agriculture land use planning for ecosystem restoration and revertingland degradation and combating climate change in collaboration with the State Department of Agriculture under various world bank funded project.
